[Norsk versjon] [Home|DSE] Access to the observatory. NOVA is located in the inner part of the Vestfold county on a mountain 350 meters above sea level. The sky is fairly dark since the nearest cities are about 40 km away. The mountain top combined with the relatively flat county land makes the sky almost unobstructed with below-horizon view in most directions. Road access is through a closed forest road from the nearest country district, Hvarnes. NOVA can be reached by state road 40 from Larvik and Sandefjord, and state road 307 and 306 from Tønsberg. A map is available on demand. NOVA has primarily been built for serving members of its operator Deep Sky Exploration. Regular access to the observatory and participation in observational groups are given by membership of the society. Groups and individuals may visit the observatory by an appointment with the observatory staff. Scientific collaboration with others (e.g. university students) is possible. The observatory will also be accessible through Internet for robotic observations in the future.
