The overall society organization is shown in the organizational map. The regular society management is carried out by the board. The board is elected annually by the general assembly, usually in January. The general assembly is the highest authority in the society. It oversees the activities of the board and decides on an annual society programme.
The board has the following composition in 2007:

The NOVA observatory has its own staff for daily management. The observatory director reports to the board. The editor of Nyhetsbrev fra NOVA (Newsletter from NOVA) reports to the NOVA director.
